Important things in Life

The other night while I was puttering around my room and going through twitter messages,  I came across one that caught my attention.   I clicked on the link given and my breath caught in my throat as I read about this lovely 9-yr-old girl who died from Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

As I read about her story and her mother’s journal, tears flowed freely from my eyes.   As a mother, you have a special connection to your child, one that comes from carrying it for 9 months and following its kicks and hiccups.  The moment your child is born and you hold it in your arms and gaze at its angelic face, that bond is sealed.  That’s a very special bond, nothing else in this world like that.    It’s as if it was just you and your child against the world during that moment.

I don’t know why, but this I know that life is precious…our children are precious.   And everyday that we have life is a blessing.

Before I went to bed last night, I went into my daughter’s room(she’s 2 by the way) and just stared at her for a long time.  I rumpled her hair, oh this girl has a big mop of hair.  How I wanted to pick her up and hold her but I didn’t want to wake her up.   So instead I just sat there and looked and said a little prayer for the family of that little girl and a thank you for the child that is in my life right now.
